From an early age I was blessed with ‘being able to heal’ people, animals and flowers by putting my hands on them. It was not something at the time that I thought was particularly special, I just did it and it worked. I never questioned it, it just seemed the most natural thing in the world to do. As I got older and went to school, the other children realized what I was doing and started to call me names, so I stopped doing it. Like all children of a certain age I wanted to be accepted and be like them, so I stopped doing those natural things we are all capable of just to be ‘normal’.
When I finished school I worked first as a teacher and then studied law, but both careers left me feeling dissatisfied, and so I started my nurse training. At the time it just seemed like I ‘had to’ try it, and the moment I walked onto my first ward I knew I had come Home. For me nursing was an intensely satisfying experience and I have done various types of nursing; intensive care, head injuries, gynaecology, Accident and Emergency, working in a couple of General Practitioner practices, and in between there was always Geriatric nursing which was my favourite.
I then had a ‘chance’ encounter with a healer and to cut a long story full of synchronicity short, I ended up returning to healing and studied Reiki I, II and III. Then ‘real life’ got in the way again, and though I continued nursing and continued to be happy doing it, I ‘forgot’ about healing again.
An accident last year put paid to my physical ability to nurse and though at the time that accident seemed like it was the worst thing that could have happened to me, I now realize that in fact it was merely the Universe saying it was now time to leave that chapter in my life and start a new one. So I started healing again, and at the same time met people who are able to direct my non-business mind along lines that are more stable. I can at times be a bit unrealistic in my ideas about material things and money, and I am grateful for the people who have helped me realize that though these things are not my natural forte, they are nevertheless important.
I am now busy with developing my Reiki and Healing practice – and have clients from various parts of the world. At some point I am hoping to have enough clients to be able to devote all my time to healing and developing myself and my skills, as well as running courses in Reiki. Currently I am also working on Shamballah Reiki and deepening study of the Tarot philosophy. I have found that working on a daily basis with Reiki in a lot of different aspects of my own life and with clients, there comes a shift where the things that mattered before no longer matter, and things that before were peripheral to life have become central. There is so much to learn and be, and it is a truly exciting way of being and living.
I will always be interested in talking with people about healing, or indeed in healing them, and you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to hearing from you.
